Why a hanging ethanol fire suits Australian homes

  • No chimney or roof flue. A bioethanol fire has no flue gas to vent, so it suits apartments, renovations and existing homes where cutting through the roof is not an option.
  • No gas connection. There is no gas line to run and no gasfitter needed for the fire itself.
  • Made for open-plan living. Hung from the ceiling, the fire sits in the middle of the room and the Naked Flame forms turn 360 degrees to face where you sit.
  • High and raked ceilings. Every Naked Flame form has a pitched ceiling fitting, and the Cocoon has an angled bracket and extension poles.

How to order from Australia

  1. Measure the ceiling height where the fire will hang, and the pitch if it is raked.
  2. Work out the room volume (length x width x height) to match the burner to the room.
  3. Email the measurements and a photo to info@nakedflamefires.co.nz. We will confirm the fitting and flue length and send photos and video of the fire lit.
  4. Order online in AUD, or ask us to prepare a quote for your builder or architect.

Safety and rules in Australia

Decorative ethanol burners sold in Australia must meet the national safety standard for decorative alcohol fuelled devices. Install the fire to the maker's instructions and your state and council building rules, keep the room ventilated and at least the minimum volume for the burner, and only refuel once the flame is out and the burner is cold. Read our safety guide and how bio fires work.

Gas, wood and electric versions of the Naked Flame forms are made for New Zealand and are not currently available for delivery to Australia. We do not ship fuel to Australia; buy bioethanol made for fireplaces from an Australian supplier.

Common questions

Do you deliver suspended fireplaces to Australia?

Yes, to your door anywhere in Australia, with freight shown at checkout.

Do these fires need a chimney?

No. Every fire we deliver to Australia is bioethanol, which needs no chimney, flue through the roof or gas line. See fireplaces without a chimney.

How much heat do they give?

From 3 kW (Cocoon Aeris) to 5.5 kW (Iconic 900). In a large open-plan home they work best alongside your main heating.

Can I see one before I buy?

The full range is lit at our showroom in Takapuna, Auckland. From Australia, email us and we will send photos and video of the exact fire and finish you are looking at.

Can architects and builders specify them?

Yes. See our architects and designers page and technical specs for dimensions, weights and ceiling loads.
