Manual burners are remarkably simple. Fill the self-contained reservoir with bioethanol, then light it with a long-stem lighter or lighting rod. Adjust the flame with the slide, and put it out with the supplied shut-off tool.
Bioethanol burns to heat, water vapour and carbon dioxide, so there is no smoke, soot or ash to deal with.
