Fuel Options

Please note, each fireplace will only have one fuel option, and this must be selected at the time of purchase.

Bio Ethanol

Bioethanol, otherwise known as biofuel or alcohol, is the simplest and most affordable way to create beautiful heat, without the need for flue or chimneys, or any external penetrations.

At Naked Flame Fireplaces, we only use EcoSmart fire ethanol burners in our fireplaces, as they are the most reliable and reputable worldwide. The bioethanol option also allows 360° rotation for all models.

All of our fireplaces are supplied with the largest possible burner to create maximum heat output, while still remaining as safe as possible.

We only supply the ceramic coated black burners for our suspended fireplaces.

Gas

Our entire range can be converted to gas, either natural gas or LPG (propane).

This option does require an external penetration but does provide a continuous fuel supply, rather than needing to be filled like the bioethanol.

The installation is more complex, and will require a suitably qualified gas fitter to connect the gas and flue, and also an electrician to connect the power for ignition.

Wood

Our full range is all available as an open solid wood-burning option.

Wood burners will also need to be installed by a certified installer and follow local regulations.

Many New Zealand councils are against the idea of installing open wood burners, as they are not smoke controlled.

There are some exceptions to this, and Australia or further abroad are more relaxed about wood burning suspended fireplaces.

Wood burners will also require an external penetration and a non-combustible floor protector.

Electric-Fuel-Option

Electric

Our Suspended Fireplace range can also be provided with an electric insert.

This is decorative only and will not put out any heat, which will make them a perfect feature for a commercial space or somewhere that the impact is desired, but the risk of flame is not.

Important Information

Bioethanol, wood and electric are interchangeable, so you can select a wood option, then add a bioethanol insert or electric insert later, for example, however, the gas option is fixed in and not interchangeable with another option later.

Local regulations – It is imperative that all Naked Flame fireplaces are installed and used according to local, national and other applicable regulations and requirements. Please consult with your local council/architect for regulations on which fireplace and fuel source you are wanting.
